Fortunately, Caroline Sarah Lanashire shows up solo as well after annoying her relatives by living her own life. Derek Jacobi was brilliant at playing it. Thank you so much for your detailed summaries of S3. Cheryl is kick ass in her scene in the grocery. S3 E4-6 were very hard to watch.

Sarah Lancashire was brilliant at playing it. Celia realises that she may have lost everything and rushes to his bedside. To achieve this she needs financial support from both Celia and Kate, and asks Kate to move in with her. The first series ends with a flashback to 60 years ago, showing the teenage Alan asking Celia on a date, just as the present-day Alan regains consciousness.
