The few segments from other angles don't really pan out in the grand scheme, while its intended twist is hampered by over saturation of horror genre, which is odd to see in crime drama. By: Posted: Monday February 22 2016 I feel this had potential to be an interesting and intriguing thriller. Overview - As a police officer investigates the death of his partner, the case exposes disturbing police corruption along with a dangerous secret that leads him to a troubled young woman. Still, theextreme shift of tone here doesn't have any appeal instead it's only adistraction. Most were emotionalgotcha's that did nothing to move the plot forward. Current events conspire to push this character over the edge, compelling a response to the inner turmoil.

The quantity of hate mail I receive from readers regarding my opinion of Mr. I might not have picked up on why and how Scott Galban's wife died and even why his kid is in Florida but I guess it's to have him away from the stuff that Scott has been dealing with his work. There is simply no motivation in the process, the experience flat-lined by a bland, paint-by-number approach that is the very definition of generic. A deep movie is easily overlooked by a shallow audience. But what kept me watching was the superb cinematography by Trevor Forrest. If you say it is the worst film of the year, I won't deny that. Subsequently, Linton disavowed the film and sued to have his name removed from his only theatrical credit.

It's actually embarrassing to watch him. You see, he was found in a subway station, with a stab wound in his back, and left for dead. Her boyfriend subsequently dies in Iraq, but she falls pregnant because of the rape. Also, it would take much more study than a few paragraphs to begin to unravel the mysteries. I guess he has performance anxiety. I've seen a few of his movies, and I've yet to see him give a bad performance. Meanwhile, Latina Isabel de la Cruz Ana de Armas might have been witness to the killing.

The producers instead turned the movie into Keanu Reeves cop thriller. There are also a few surrealistic events that don't make much sense, but may have made more sense in the original version. This kind of sudden change is not uncommon, some thriller moviesshifted to more action atmosphere for casual audience or some actionflicks would be altered to accommodate more famous stars. Galban fears her life could be in jeopardy should he get too close to her. Eye and the International P. MeanwhileAna de Armas plays as a troubled wife who might just see someapparition.

Watch The Film , Saint Pauly Like. First of all, Keanu Reeves' character was next to nothing. The two parallel story lines initially appear to have little in common, but as events gradually unfold in the two separate urban worlds, the young woman, Isabel De La Cruz, appears to somehow be involved in the detective's demise. No one suspected Manuel was dating Chewbacca 0:07:38 While Isabel waits for the tube under the watchful eye of a poster, she breaks a heel and a thick gold wedding ring slips off of her finger. Movies like this one should be a must-see in all film schools. Usually in movies like Neighbors 2 you will find culture creation techniques that help set public opinion, but there are always interesting things to be found if you know how to look, like the sorority system being an elementary school version of the brotherhoods that are all centered around ancient mysteries. Half trough it got very predictable, super weird and boring.

I agree, though, the film is well-written and the story is fascinating! An alternate version that follows the director's vision was edited by Roman Polanski's longtime editor, Hervé de Luze » This movie was incredible; incredibly bad. The spirits are the dreadful reminder of her abusive father and her childhood memories. As Galban edges closer to the truth, he discovers his partner was a ruthless, corrupt cop that forces Galban to think about his own ethics, both on the job and at home. The twist was taken straight out of another film, so that makes the conclusion was very silly. I really enjoyed it, though my wife didn't she thinks i like all weird films but it is neither slow nor 'art house's rubbish, but simply a compelling story with an interesting end. Maybe the director's cut would have been better than this version.

You could have removed all of that and it wouldn't haveimpacted the story in the slightest. The fantasy elements are dropped in favor of a dull Skip it. This is not one movie. While I would rate it higher because of , I had to remind myself why this movie is the way it is. It's solid all the way around, but there's nothing about it that will make you jump for joy.

She's close with his family. However, theplot is chaotic, there would be incredibly slow development andsubplots, yet it would hasten abruptly in mere minutes. This explains why the film lingers on Reeves for the majority of the story, attempting to put the strength of the film on his shoulders, a much more recognized star than any of the remaining cast. There are so many movies that are a retelling of the ancient mysteries. I was really hopingthere were some subtle or underlying meanings to some of the scenes,but in the end I found myself looking to my wife for comfort andexplanation, only to be met with an empty confused stare. The closer Galban gets to the truth, both Cullen's wife, Janine , and his Lieutenant , try to persuade him to back off, fearing his findings may discredit Cullen and expose corruption within the Police Department. Ana de Armas gives a stunning performance as the young Latin girl who only has her faith to hold on to after she loses everything.

I've seen about four thousand films in the past ten or eleven years, so I'm quite picky because jaded by seeing the same old formulaic dross trotted out again and again. Do you think it's all necessary to tell the story? You see, he was found in a subway station, with a stab wound in his back, and left for dead. The final woman appears in black after Isabel has killed her father, symbolizing the death of her father but, more importantly, the end of her trauma. Meanwhile, Latina Isabel de la Cruz Ana de Armas might have been witness to the killing. This is, verbatim, what he wrote: As seen through the eyes of Isabel The Albino Woman and the Albino man from the beginning. Did she see this film? Alot of things happen with no reason and no connection to the rest ofthe movie, the story is half in English and half in Spanish but mixedin such a way that it becomes annoying from the beginning of the movie.

At the end of the film, Detective Galban investigates the murder of an elderly Hispanic man. Funny is in the eye of the beholder. Often those who act badly in films are good in another domain; Keanu being the exception that proves the rule. It conceivably could've been an interesting psychological thriller if it were in the hands of an esoteric, accomplished director like David Lynch. Another character seeks to uncover the truth about a friend who was not the person he thought and who had secrets he would rather not have learned. Cullen was a sodomist, a rapist, and in cahoots with several criminals in town.
