I have a new K501U notebook and the touchpad is awful. How do I disable the stupid tapping???? However the touchpad installation had the issues as outlined on this website. Moreover, the updating from the system is continued. I have tried all the suggestions here but unfortunately I have had no success. It keeps reporting back the same error message: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.

Thanks for you time as always. Wasted about 20 hours trying to fix this. Suddenly I realized the touchpad scroll was not working, but the touchpad did work basic features. Waited, saw the icon without the red. The pad is dead or unplugged. This key contain all tweak in Smart Gesture! I also try to update the driver with the recent one from the asus site but I can't install it without unistall the version on my notebook.

With my additional mouse I then try repair, still without success. I used different version of smart gesture but problem stays the same. Touchpad works without 2-finger or 3 finger scroll. Do either manual or script. Update: Thanks for you fast answer.

It is super important that I get this completed as soon as possible because I use this laptop for school. It did work under Windows 8. I can scroll down with my 2 fingers!!!
