As compared to other 4 bangers on the market. I will keep it until it completely rusts out or the motor or trans give up. The extended-cab Silverado's rear seat has real space for three real people. Small rear window water leak started about 150K miles, fixed with silicone every few years. The gas mileage is great, insurance is cheap for me at least and it has maintained great reliability.

Multiple patches, bands and tiger tape, bailing wire etc holds the exhaust together. Nothing major broke but the fuel pump and the distributor broke 3 times. General Comments: Great and reliable vehicle to have. Hood latch can be tricky and needed adjustment. I don't think the power steering pump even works anymore, but hey it still steers down the road.

The cabin offers plenty of space with enough head and leg room for both the front and rear occupants. Cup holder broke at 100K; replaced it myself with one from a wreck. At 51000 the water pump went out again. General Comments: Besides the loud noise of the engine, everything is perfect with my S-10!! This full-sized pickup has not only been the best-selling vehicle in the Chevrolet line, it's the best-selling vehicle made by General Motors.

The Z85 suspension is designed for improved handling while towing a trailer, and the Silverado can tow a trailer of up to 8200 lbs. I guess I just won't recline. One rear door latch of the quad cab has not worked for years and the door will not open. The truck rides and handles like a dream. A new and more rigid frame anchors a larger, stronger body structure and bigger cargo beds. In a comparison test we conducted for 2001, the S-10 finished fifth out of five trucks. This third door tended to rattle on broken pavement, though.

I hope it stays that way in the years to come. Alas, we were never particularly impressed with this S-10, finding it to be inferior to competing small trucks from Dodge, Ford, Nissan and Toyota. Another typical problem with s-10's wheel hub assembly bearings had to have both replaced 35 and the driver side again at 75. Typical steering wander for the year can be aided with after market parts.

Most used-vehicle shoppers will be looking at the second generation. All I have done is preventative maintenance and nothing else, I've never had issues with it except a new exhaust system last year. Catalytic converter replaced at 100K miles. Dashboard is solid plastic piece, and has worn and cracked all the way through. Most repairs have been expected wear items.
